This woman was trying to sell this bike when I photographed her. Brick Lane is still a great place to find a bargain, if you’ve got time to hunt around. It’s also a great place to take street pictures. In the 1970’s a young Czech photographer called  Marketa Luskacova,  came to London and started to document Brick lane and London’s East End. While I was a student at college, studying documentary photography I became a friend of Marketa and was privileged enough to experience her warmth and generosity. Only glimpses of the world Marketa documented survive. But she is truly one of the great chroniclers of London street photography, so please take time to check her work out on Marketa Luskacova.com
